Maintaining a commitment to inspiring creativity through sport and design, Pharrell Williams and adidas Originals continus their longstanding partnership with a fresh pack celebrating the Chinese New Year.

Taking inspiration from Chinese colour symbolism both shoes are made up in predominantly red uppers with gold embellishments, seeking to bring good fortune and happiness to the wearer in the New Year.

Continuing this theme, the SolarHu Glide CNY features an embroidered ‘Fú’ symbol on its upper, which is traditionally placed upside-down on the doors of Chinese homes in order to bring prosperity to the household.

Nike React Element 87
January 2019

Nike’s React Element 87 was unquestionably one of the most interesting new silhouettes to hit the market last year. Its translucent upper, bold technical detailing, and arresting cored-out midsole with bold plugs offered a look unlike any other. Now it’s set to continue its momentum in 2019 with new colorways, the first of which to drop will be a “Light Orewood.”

This new makeup features a fairly simple base, as the clear upper is accented with several sandy tan suede panels and the React midsole is done up in a stark white. However, the simple primary colors are a perfect canvas for the bold accents to make a statement on: a “Laser Orange” appears on the large midfoot swoosh and the heel taping, while neon “Volt” accents arrie on the throat and the midsole’s plugs.

If you’re looking to kick your year off right with these colorful new Elements, you can expect them to drop this January 2019 at limitEDitions Barcelona .

adidas Nite Jogger

For 2019 adidas present the Nite Jogger, inspired by its 70’s runner namesake this latest iteration revitalizes the originals credentials with a contemporary overhaul harnessing adidas’s revolutionary boost sole tech and a healthy dose of reflective detailing.

Inspired by the 1976 Nite Jogger, a shoe developed for jogging in low light. This latest entry in the canon builds upon the iconic detailing of the original using the orange highlights as a base to craft a 2019 ready style. The upper features a construction composed of mesh, nylon ripstop and suede overlays, allowing for a lightweight build and a razor-sharp shape. Further nods to the period arrive via an old school visible foam padded tongue and the distinctive orange highlights on the heel and toe that feature a bold 3M reflective finish.

Emulating the originals aim of offering improved comfort by way of a “thicker & softer” sole unit, an updated Boost midsole is deployed down below offering superior responsive cushioning with an OrthoLite® sock liner just above for further comfort. Final flourishes of details include reflective fleck laces, and a custom Nite Jogger tongue label.

The adidas Nite Jogger launches at limitEDitions Barcelona on January 12th.

adidas Ultraboost 19 'Dark Pixel'
03 . 01 . 19

adidasunveils the adidas Ultraboost 19, the spiritual successor to the original Ultraboost that were all quite familar with. An entirely re-imagined and redesigned version of the iconic adidas performance running shoe. A crack team of adidas designers and product developers worked with well over a thousand runners from across the globe to create the new Ultraboost.
The overwhelming feedback from runners was that running is changing, it's becoming younger and more democratic. With the emergence of city running clubs and fun runs, running is now a sociable sport rather than just something people do on their own. Runners made it clear during the development they wanted a simpler product with fewer pieces but equally high performance.

To reflect that, the original adidas Ultraboost was torn apart and rebuilt, originally utilizing 17 pieces in its construction the adidas team have honed in to focus on four key components – Optimized BOOST, Torsion Spring, Primeknit 360 and the 3D Heel Frame.

Check out the clip below to get an in-depth look at adidas's journey to create the Ultraboost 19.

The adidas Ultraboost 19 'Dark Pixel' launching Thursday 3rd of January at limitEDitiosn Barcelona .

Sam Handy, Vice President Design, adidas Running, said: “In creating the adidas Ultraboost 19, we tore up the rule book. We challenged the status quo of what a running shoe should be and how it should be created."

"We enlisted runners from all over our network to be a part of this process, with one goal in mind – to create the most responsive, performance-driven version of the adidas Ultraboost

"On this journey, we literally tore apart the old model and discovered new testing, manufacturing and coloring methods to really challenge ourselves to reach our ambition

The Optimized BOOST in the Ultraboost 19features 20% more BOOST in the midsole compared to the first-generation adidas Ultraboost, this updated technology brings even more energy return. Whilst the Torsion Spring (a lightweight construction for enhanced support on landing and a snappy transition to propel runners forward) sees an overhaul too. It wouldn’t be an Ultraboost with that Primeknit upper! For the UB19 adidas deploy a 360 knit –that feels like a second skin, combining pure comfort with lightweight performance. Finally, adidas turn their attention to the heel cage which boats an Updated 3D Heel Frame–a stripped-back design cradles the heel, bringing the perfect mix of adaptability and support.

One of the first to emerge from the latest batch the adidas Ultraboost 19 'Dark Pixel' boasts a multi colour knit detail set against a core black base.
