adidas Consortium x A Ma Maniére
27 . 04 . 2019

A Ma Maniére is the jewel in the crown of retail trailblazer James Whitner, a  Pittsburgh native whose multiple stores show an inspiring commitment to celebrating cutting-edge style in cities far removed from the likes of Los Angeles and New York. Translating from the French as ‘My Way’, A Ma Maniére opened the doors of its first store in Atlanta, Georgia. Boasting the most considered selection of sneakers and most uncompromising high-end apparel, it quickly established itself as a go-to destination for ‘a fashion-forward clientele deeply-rooted within their community.’ More recently a Washington D.C. store followed, espousing the same values and curated approach to be found in the original A Ma Maniére.
The release of a new collaborative shoe between A Ma Maniére and adidas Consortium offers a wider audience the chance to experience the retailer’s proudly premium sensibility. In taking on the Crazy BYW LOW, the retailer stays true to the role played by iconic basketball shoes in streetwear’s ever-evolving lineage. A descendant of the instantly recognizable, game-changing Crazy 8 of the 1970s, the update also takes inspiration from the 1990s in its adherence to the ‘natural movement’ philosophy that defined much footwear of that decade. The A Ma Maniére version celebrates all of these cultural and sporting reference points, accentuating the full-length BOOST materials on the ‘pod’-like midsole and employing an ultra-comfortable neoprene bootie construction on the uppers. These qualities are thrust into the luxury arena courtesy of a dignified colour palette of deep purple shades and inky tones, rendered across the highest quality suede and nubuck leathers.

The adidas Consortium Crazy BYW x A Ma Maniére launches at limitEDitions Barcelona on April 27th.

Reebok Classics x 20th Century Fox "Alien Fighter"
26 April 2019
To celebrate 40 years of the alien franchise, Reebok has rewound the story to the mid-late 1970s. when the first Alien film was in pre-production. when its concept art and visual direction were hatching.

at the time, graphic artist Ron Cobb was the man responsible for imagining and designing the human technology, alongside HR Giger who was conceiving the look of the alien.

Taking inspiration from Ron Cobb’s story, hundreds of his pre-production sketches and memoirs from Ridley Scott, the Reebok design team has created a prototype - looking stomper that could have existed before the style worn by Ripley years later in aliens. Carrying concept logos and details that were never used in final production, such as the original name for the Weyland - Yutani corporation – which was in - fact ‘Weylan - Yutani’ – without the ‘d’. it wasn’t until 1986’s aliens that the company name was changed to Weyland - Yutani, where it became a central aspect of the franchise.

adidas Originals x Alexander Wang

20 . 04 . 19

Over the past four seasons, adidas Originals x alexander wang has established a point of view that resonated in the world of fashion and culture. Its guiding principle of Strictly Wrong subverts commonly accepted rules to spend all preconceived notions of how a fashion collaboration should launch.

With the collaboration now established in 2019, we move into a different phase, maintaining momentum but focusing on a more commercially accessible collection and new product story in, “Club Leisure.”

This season, Alexander Wang disrupts familiar iconography with a collection that subverts the fitness athleisure trend. Blurring the lines of past and present, the Season 5 collection recontextualizes apparel from the ’80s and ’90s workout dance phenomenon as modern club wear — designed to seamlessly go from the couch to the club.

The campaign brings the collections inspirations to life with a scenario that revolves around a ’90s-inspired hiphop dance instructional video. Authentically rooted in dance, with original movements created by an influential choreographer, Tanisha Scott, we portray real New York City dancers wearing the collection while they move and pose around a jungle gym set with stylized lighting. The campaign tone is nostalgic without feeling old, familiar yet surprising.

The campaign imagery and moving content celebrates the playfulness of the new collection and spirit of the Originals brand, bringing sport and lifestyle together in unexpected ways.

The adidas Originals x Alexander Wang Footwear collection will be coming to limitEDitions Barcelona on April 20th.

adidas Consortium ZX10,000C x Overkill
13 . 04 . 19

Since it first came into being, adidas Consortium has been committed to bringing together partners, retailers and collectives who exemplify a unique, fearless approach to collaboration. Each new partnership offers up a creative new take on the iconic styles that adidas has developed over the decades. In doing so they shine an entirely new light on the sportswear brand’s high-performance technologies and commitment to craftsmanship.

Originally conceived in 2003 as a hub for the German capital’s vibrant graffiti scene – selling spray cans, marker pens and a small selection of streetwear – Overkill has since grown into a go-to destination for the latest and greatest sneaker and apparel drops from some of the world’s most sought-after brands. Throughout the store’s recent developments, the vision and passion for the culture has remained a constant for Marc Leuschner, who became co-owner of the store in 2008. No matter how much the store and its selections evolve, one thing remains a constant: Marc’s love for the ZX range of running shoes that adidas first launched in 1984 and ran until 1991.

SS19 has already seen the release of a special ZX 10000C model designed by and exclusive to Overkill stores. For that model, Overkill co-owner Marc Leuschner applied splashes of bright colour to the uppers and midsoles to craft an eye-catching homage to a number of his favourite ZXs from the original ’84-’91 releases.
The second ZX 10000C Overkill, available via adidas Consortium partners worldwide, offers up a completely different take on the shoe. The vibrant panels of bright color are nowhere to be seen, replaced instead by a moodier combination of greys, magenta and blue. The result is a palette that calls to mind the gaming consoles that began to emerge around the same time as the original adidas ZX line.

The ZX 10000C Overkill features a diverse blend of natural and technical fabrications include mesh underlays and webbed Three Stripes, alongside premium suede overlays and reinforced TPU on the ghilly and heel. The shoe also features a Torsion bar, the thermoplastic arch support that has been a mainstay in high-performance adidas footwear since its introduction in 1988. For the new ZX 10000C upon which this Overkill model is based, the Consortium team sat down with original ZX designer Jacques Chassaing to ensure they captured the qualities of the Torsion system in a shoe that feels not only reverent to the past but suited to contemporary performance.

The adidas Consortium 10,000 C x Overkill launches at limitEDitions Barcelona on Saturday April 13th 2019.

adidas Stan Smith by Raf Simons 'Trompe-l’oeil'
12 . 04 . 19

adidas by Raf Simons layers past, present, and future to create a new footwear range inspired by the painting technique of Trompe-l’oeil, French for “deceive the eye”.

To begin, the designer curated five styles from the adidas Originals archive: the Micropacer (released 1984–88), the L.A. Trainer (1979–80), the Torsion Conquest Super (1990–92), the Samba (1962–67), and the Peachtree (1985). These pieces were photographed and 3-D modelled to fit the RS Stan Smith and the RS Adilette, two of the adidas by Raf Simons collaboration’s most essential styles. The resulting footwear retains select details of the vintage shoes on the uppers, including stains, exposed glue, and other general wear—transporting authentic elements of the past into the now.

The collection enables the pollination of styles across product categories, like the transference of technical runners, such as the Micropacer, to tennis shoes, like the Stan Smith. While the Peachtree originally only available in women’s sizes, is now available for men as well, becoming the unisex RS Peach Stan and the RS Peach Adilette.

The adidas Stan Smith By Raf Simons 'Trompe-l’oeil' Pack launches at limitEDitions Barcelona on Friday 12th April.

REEBOK INSTAPUMP FURY OG  - 25TH ANNIVERSARY
05 . 04 . 19

Reebok's pioneering style returns 25 years after its debut. When the Reebok Instapump Fury first released in 1994, it offered a look that was acutely dissimilar to anything consumers had ever seen before. Its bold ethos and advanced tech made it truly stand out from the pack, and now, 25 years later, it’s is coming back in its original citron, red, and black colorway — featuring 1:1 remade details that are sure to delight tenured and fresh fans of the silhouette alike.

The highly innovative design created by designer Steven Smith, saw the Instapump Fury harness Reebok's two main technologies at the time (PUMP & Hexalite) to devasting effect. Couple that with an industrial minimalist design approach, the Instapump Fury forever changed the sneaker landscape.

The Fury puts a signature Pump custom fit system front-and-center with a bold inflation button/deflation valve directly on the tongue. While a straightforward black mesh is used for the base, the citron and red accents are applied liberally to accent the shoe’s striking shape and style, pulling all attention to the sui generis design details like the cut-out side panels, split midsole, and rounded toebox.

Each pair of this remastered runner will be individually numbered — ranging from 1-1994 — and they’ll release on April 5th at limitEDitions Barcelona .
