ADIDAS CONSORTIUM X SAINT ALFRED GAZELLE GTX
29 . 10 . 16

The latest adidas Consortium footwear comes in collaboration with Saint Alfred, the retailer and brand based in Wicker Park, Chicago.
Saint Alfred and adidas Consortium re-imagine the classic adidas Gazelle, combining considered premium materials with durable technology and timeless style.

The Gazelle has travelled the globe. For almost five decades it has proved to be a sneaker that can endure performance on field and everyday wear: thrashed by skateboarders, worn by soccer/football fans, and on stage by rappers and guitarists. Generally perceived as a summer shoe, this iteration seeks to rebuff that.

Chicago is a style and cultural powerhouse but life in the Midwestern city requires apparel that functions. The city is known for its unpredictable weather and this Gazelle is designed to both withstand harsh conditions while still looking refined.

The subtle off-white suede upper has been treated to be water repellent and the lining is reinforced with a GORE-TEX membrane -breathable and weather resistant – with a tongue gusset to keep the interior dry. Heel, collar and tongue are made from soft leather and the Gazelle’s classic silhouette is undisturbed by the design innovations.

This year the Gazelle is having a real moment with a contemporary style-conscious crowd. adidas Consortium and Saint Alfred have designed the shoe for 2016 with the understated treatment it deserves.

To coincide with this release, Saint Alfred has produced a collaborative adidas T-shirt and an accompanying zine, photographed and designed by Adam Jason Cohen, featuring friends of the brand.

LE COQ SPORTIF LCS R800 X PARTYFINE
29 . 10 . 16

Le Coq Sportif is unveiling a brand new partnership with French music label Partyfine. The LCS R800 has been updated for the occasion in an elegant monochrome version.

Both the label and brand wanted to create a sneaker along the lines of Partyfine’s minimalist visual style with all the beauty of the shoe showcased in its refined details.

Only smooth and perforated nubuck are combined to create subtle contrast in silver gray, the colour of the music label’s compilation to be released this autumn. The letters Fine are embossed in 3M white on the back of this elegant model. The laces are printed at each end with the label’s slogan «We are fine».

Continuing in discrete style, the inner and outer soles are matching in the colour Gum, offering a subtle and delicate contrast to this monochrome shoe. The inner sole is made of high-quality leather, embossed with the Partyfine and le coq sportif logos.

Beyond the desire to design a pair of shoes that can be worn by the label’s artists and fans, le coq sportif’s French spirit also appealed to Partyfine. This preference is asserted by the music label, both in the origin of most of its groups and by Yuksek’s sense of belonging to the movement of a second French touch.

The collaboration would not have been complete without a mix from the label to accompany this release…Each pair of LCS R800 will come with a hang tag for downloading an exclusive mix of Partyfine’s three latest compilations.

ASICS GEL-LYTE V X COLETTE “YUKATA”
29 . 10 . 16

The renowned Paris-based boutique, colette, along with ASICS Tiger team up again at this years Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo.

Yukata or ??, which literally means “bathing costume”, is the Japanese word describing a light summer Kimono that was worn by both men and women. Its origin goes back to the “Onsen”, when the Japanese wore a Yukatabira, a light linen robe. With the democratisation of baths in Japanese culture, the Yukatabira was replaced by the Yukata, in cotton, making it more desirable to the public. The Yukata is now used for many special social occasions, festivals or a nightdress.

To tie in the Parisian roots of colette with their Japanese heritage, Asics brought French illustrator duo, Jean Jullien and his brother Nico on board to design the artwork to support this release. Using their unique style they have brought to life a re-interpretation of a traditional Japanese folk tale.

The Nike Air Footscape Woven Chukka SE will remain true to form when it comes to its tooling, this means that the Footscape Motion sole unit will still be intact and the abstract and unique look of the upper also remains the same. The only change (and it’s a major one) lies in the construction of the upper which consists of a wool paired with nylon and neoprene, the blend of durable materials provides a warm and substantially stronger upper. This all sits atop a Nike Air-cushioned sole unit with minor flex grooves to ensure maximum comfort and flexibility. Completing the look are hits of premium leather on the heeltabs and tongue pull tabs for minor hints of luxury detailing.

ASICS GEL-LYTE V “TARTUFO” PACK
LAUNCHING 22ND OCTOBER

Tartufo can be one of two things, it is either an edible fungus, such as the white truffle, or it is an Italian dessert that consists of chocolate in a creamy consistency. Although the original concept for this ASICS Tiger GEL-Lyte V™ duo was the former of these two definitions, the results were so sweet the brand is serving these up for dessert.

Both of the colourways combine suede and ostrich skin style leather, with the first combining Black with Mid Brown and Dark Brown details on the upper, whilst the second features Slight White with Cathay Spice and Sand. The midsole of each pair is matched to the vamp of the respective upper, with contrasted speckling and a hit of Wild Dove on the heel waves to add some detail. To complete the look the outsoles are finished in a combination of Grey and Wild Dove.

California-based retailer UNDEFEATED steps up and reworks a 1990s staple from the adidas archive.

ADIDAS CONSORTIUM TOUR: MITA SNEAKERS SEEULATER
LAUNCHING 8TH OCTOBER

This month the Consortium Tour returns to Japan, this time it is the turn of Toyko-based footwear retailer mita sneakers to rework the SEEULATER – an outdoor classic recently inducted to the Originals range.
First released in the mid-1990s as a hiking shoe, the SEEULATER achieved a cult-status in Japan. During the era, Ame-yoko Street was the place in Tokyo to pick up climbing and skiing clothing and imported outerwear. Lined with dozens of retailers, their windows filled with the boldly-coloured jackets of the period, the street serves as the inspiration behind the SEEULATER’s dark blue and red upper.

Another reference for this model comes from small dashes of nature found in Japan’s major metropolis. The stone-coloured elements pay homage to the city’s rock gardens, while the midsole – speckled with glow-in-the-dark-paint – nods to the luminous moss known to grow on the rocks.

The rugged, grippy outer sole, the lacing system and the elasticated ankle all point outdoors; an activity shoe undoubtedly designed to perform in the wild. mita sneakers takes the silhouette, and alongside adidas Consortium, creates a shoe unmistakably inspired by both the natural and more modern aspects of the city of Tokyo.

Urban winters can be harsh; it has become a stylistic standard to opt for more functional clothing and footwear. This SEEULATER therefore features a cork insole, designed to absorb and release moisture, keeping the wearer dry in any situation.
Sure, a lot of time has passed between the 1990s and today. The SEEULATER may have appeared alien to sneaker enthusiasts at first – but as a true timeless classic – it now slips comfortably alongside today’s models as a standout functional shoe with a bold aesthetic.

The Nike Footscape Woven Flyknit even manages to camouflage the Swoosh side panel branding through a matching Gym Red shade for an interesting new take. NEW BALANCE MADE IN USA M585BB X BALL & BUCK “SPORTING GENTLEMAN”
LAUNCHING 1ST OCTOBER

Boston-based New Balance Athletics, Inc. and premier American-made outfitters, Ball and Buck, join forces for the Ball and Buck x New Balance Made in USA 585 “Sporting Gentleman.”

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Japanese designed predecessor, the New Balance 580, the 585 is being dusted off and brought back into production after an extended hiatus.

The “Sporting Gentleman” is inspired by Ball and Buck’s signature plaid, which is representative of the Boston-based retailer’s brand and lifestyle. Borrowing from traditional plaids of heritage hunting estates, the earthy, natural tones with accents of classic navy and orange blaze incorporate everything that it means to be a “sporting gentleman” and stay true to the brand’s sporting roots.

The Ball and Buck x New Balance MiUSA 585 “Sporting Gentleman” was crafted in New Balance’s Skowhegan, ME manufacturing facility with premium materials and traditional shoemaking expertise and is the first time the silhouette has been used for a collaborative project. All the details of the style remain true to the original, with influences from Ball and Buck including signature Ball and Buck leather on the N logo, tongue and collar strap;signature Ball and Buck duck canvas on the underlays and insert label; signature Ball and Buck plaid canvas on the vamp and collar; and, signature Ball and Buck camo pattern printed underneath the gum rubber outsole. The style also offers nubuck overlays and is finished off with classic details such as a Ball and Buck branded antique brass lace lock. All the materials are highly durable with the intention of outdoor wear for the sporting gentleman in mind.

“Our work with Ball and Buck brings two Boston-based brands together that strive to offer consumers premium, authentic, Made in USA products,” said Chris Davis, Strategic Business Manager, NB Lifestyle. “We are excited to bring-back the 585 silhouette and collaborate on this prestige model with a retailer who influences, inspires and understands quality American craftsmanship, as well as the outdoor lifestyle.”

“We were honoured when New Balance approached us to work on their first ever collaboration on the 585 silhouette. Being two brands cut from the same cloth and built upon the same values, we are always impressed with how functional, beautiful, and high quality our collaborations come out,” said Mark Bollman, Founder and President, Ball and Buck. “The sporting gentleman really speaks to the entire material story of Ball and Buck and debuts our signature plaid, like our first collaboration debuted our signature Camo. In fact, all of the Ball and Buck signature materials and patterns are integrated into this shoe, from our signature canvas and signature Horween leather that can be found in our luggage line, to our plaid that lines our jackets, and pops of blaze orange and antique brass common on almost every product we create. We couldn’t be more proud of how the final product turned out and are thrilled to have been able to partner with our good friends at New Balance.”

The New Balance MiUSA 585 is being brought back to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the New Balance 580, which is the New Balance Japan designed model inspired by the 585. The model has an unusual history. Like a few models in the mid-nineties, the 585 was introduced in the US and Europe in 1995 and in Japan a year later. The 585 was a Made in USA prestige model, distinguishing it from a Made in China version. In 1995, the M585 wast outed as the most stable running shoe in the New Balance range offering exceptional cushion and stability with ROLLBAR technology. Today, the classic Made in USA Lifestyle model celebrates the authenticity of New Balance Made in USA footwear and highlights the premium craftsmanship, heritage and quality that Made in USA product represents.
